Alfredo Bini nasce a Pistoia nel 1975 dove risiede tuttora.
Fotografa da sempre vivendo la fotografia come una semplice passione fino al 2002, anno in cui un suo lavoro realizzato in Norvegia viene selezionato per una pubblicazione su un magazine di fotografia.
Successivamente pianifica e realizza alcuni progetti legati alla fotografia di viaggio, che in seguito vedranno l’affiancarsi e poi l’avvicendarsi di reportage su tematiche sociali, collaborando con le ONG presenti nei paesi visitati. Dal 2002 al 2004 frequenta alcuni workshop sia in Italia che al’estero, ed alla produzione per l’editoria affianca lavori commerciali con un’attenzione verso realtà produttive artigianali presenti nel territorio in cui vive. Alcune immagini realizzate per una di queste commesse sono state utilizzate all’interno del catalogo del marchio Lacoste per il Regno Unito. Sovente accompagna i reportage con testi che scrive personalmente e sogna che i suoi lavori contribuiscano all’accrescimento della consapevolezza su situazioni sociali eccessivamente sbilanciate.
Nel 2008 con una selezione del reportage sul Burkina Faso ha vinto il titolo di “Runner-Up” nella categoria portfolio del premio fotografico “Travel Photo Of The Year”, indetto in UK dal The Indipendent e Wanderlust magazine. Negli Usa durante il “Biennial Juried Photography Show 2008″ tenutasi nel marzo 2008 presso l’Edward Hopper House Museum di NY è stato premiato con la Silver Award of Excellence. Al concorso Orvieto Fotografia 2008, sia per la categoria ritratto che reportage, gli è stato conferito il Bronze Award, ed è stato indicato come Autore Segnalato nel Premio Fotografico 2008 indetto dall’associazione nazionale fotografi professionisti italiani, Tau Visual . Il reportage Water and Land in Sahel, the case of Burkina Faso, si è classificato al secondo posto all’International Photography Awards 2008 (NY) per la categoria Political ed all’interno dello stesso premio ha ricevuto due menzioni d’onore per la categoria Enviromental e Feature Story.” E’ stato selezionato tra i finalisti della sezione fotografia del Premio Celeste 2008, dove ha esposto un’opera sorretta da un supporto realizzato assieme allo scultore pistoiese Andrea Dami.
Ultimamente sta seguendo due progetti di lungo respiro sul territorio in cui vive e sta pianificando un reportage legato al tema dell’immigrazione.
Freelance, i suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati su magazine e giornali Europei ed esposti in Europa e Stati Uniti. Alcuni reportage sono stati presentati ed usati come materiale di discussione per rassegne culturali o convegni presso importanti sedi, tra cui: il teatro San Domenico di Crema, l’Ateneo Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti di Venezia, la galleria Makenoise di Roma durante la tappa Italiana dello SlideLuck Potshow, la società Umanitaria di Milano per l’evento Focus on China, la sala Aragonite in Lugano.
Until 2002 photography was not really any more than a consuming hobby; that year, which was to mark a turning point in his career, a project carried out in Norway was selected for publication in a photography magazine.
Later he planned and realised several projects linked to travel photography, which in time came to be flanked by reportages regarding social themes, on which he worked in collaboration with the NGO in the various countries he visited. Between 2002 and 2004 he attended workshops both in Italy and overseas, and added commercial projects to his portfolio, with particular attention towards the artisanal production realities in the area in which he lives Some of the pictures he shot on these commissions were used in the UK Lacoste catalogue. His reportages are often accompanied by texts he writes himself and he dreams of his work contributing to the expansion of public awareness of excessively unbalanced social issues.
In 2008 a selection of images from his Burkina Faso reportage gained him the position of Runner-Up in the portfolio category of the “Travel Photo of the Year” competition run in the UK by The Independent and Wanderlust magazine. He won the Silver Award of Excellence in the “Biennial Juried Photography Show” which took place in March 2008 at the Edward Hopper House Museum of Art in New York. He won the Bronze Award for both the portrait and reportage sections of the Orvieto Fotografia 2008 competition, and he was nominated “Recommended Author” in the 2008 Photographic Prize run by the Italian Association of professional photographers. The reportage “Water and Land in Sahel, the case of Burkina Faso” gained second place in the International Photography Awards 2008 (New York) in the Political category, and he also received two honourable mentions in the same competition in the Environmental and Feature Story categories. He was a finalist in the photography section of the Premio Celeste 2008, where he exhibited a project with a support realised by the Pistoia sculptor Andrea Dami.
Recently he has been working on two long-term projects in his local area and he is currently planning a reportage on the theme of immigration.
As a freelance photojournalist his work has been published in European magazines and newspapers and displayed in both Europe and the United States. Some of his reportages have been presented and used as material for discussion in cultural manifestations and conferences in well-known venues such as the San Domenico theatre in Crema, the Ateneo Veneto of Science, Letters and Art in Venice, the Makenoise Gallery in Rome (during the Italian stage of the SlideLuck Potshow), the Humanitarian Society of Milan in occasion of the Focus on China event, The University of Udine during the international conference “Azania (Africa) Speaks, and the Aragonite Hall of Lugano.
